Who We Are

Founded in 2018, Comboni Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) exists to tackle poverty, inequality, unemployment, and climate challenges in Africa through faith-driven social innovation. Inspired by the vision of Saint Daniel Comboni, CASE works at the intersection of faith and entrepreneurship, harnessing the Church’s influence to drive sustainable change in communities.

By empowering individuals and institutions with the skills and mindset to solve real-world problems, CASE is creating a new model for social transformation, one led by communities themselves.

CASE is the umbrella body that coordinates the promotion of social enterprises in 16 African countries. Our activities focus on the socioeconomic gaps in society and seek to find innovative approaches to address them by developing the capacity of people.

Our Vision

Sustainable communities where faith, innovation, and entrepreneurship intersect to bring about lasting social change. We envision communities where faith, social innovation, and entrepreneurship fuel transformation

Our Mission

To unlock the social entrepreneurial spirit within individuals and communities, especially youth, by equipping them with the skills, mindset, and tools to lead transformative change. Through hands-on training in social innovation and entrepreneurship, we empower them to unlock their potential, build sustainable ventures, and create lasting impact.

Our Theory of Change

We envisage missions where social entrepreneurship training enables people to create social businesses that impact positively in the life of society and improve the well-being of every individual.

Our Approach

CASE empowers people in the community through social innovation and entrepreneurship trainings, towards the creation of social businesses that impact positively on society and improve individual and community well-being.

We place particular emphasis on achieving the triple bottom line – social impact, financial sustainability, and environmental sustainability that is relevant to Africa.

The Comboni Legacy

The idea of CASE is inspired by Daniel Comboni’s vision of the regeneration of Africa as a path to social transformation of the continent. Saint Daniel Comboni (1831-1881) was an Italian Catholic missionary who dedicated his life to Africa and its people.

His revolutionary approach to mission work emphasized the importance of preparing African leaders to take charge of their own development and evangelization. Comboni’s famous phrase “Save Africa with Africa” embodies the core philosophy that guides CASE today.

He believed that sustainable transformation comes from within, through empowering local communities and developing indigenous leadership capacity. His legacy lives on through our work as we continue to invest in African communities.

"Save Africa with Africa"

This powerful motto from Saint Daniel Comboni continues to inspire our mission at CASE. We believe that the solutions to Africa's challenges lie within Africa itself - in its people, its youth, and its rich cultural heritage of innovation and resilience.
